What’s included
We always recommend a preliminary walk thru to determine the shot list, best times of day for particular shots and general logistics. It’s also a good time to discuss ideas, expectations, and the story you want to tell.
The main shoot is when the bulk of the photography occurs. It usually take around 6-8 hours .
An exteriors visit for the best light usually takes place in the early morning, sunset, or twilight. This may or may not happen the same day as the main shoot.
An experienced photo assistant for the main shoot helps to stage, style, and facilitates getting more done in less time, and best of all, the photos are better.
We do extensive post production which includes blending, targeted lighting and contrast adjustments, color correction, perspective correction, compositing and object removal. Post-processing often consumes as much time as the photo shoot and also includes the storage, backup, culling, digital delivery, and archiving of the final images from your shoot.
We also include a standard use license. All final images will come with a standard boilerplate license to use the photos. This standard license covers all of the usage needs for most clients, and additional usage licenses can be provided if needed.
Rates
Every project is different but generally an architectural or design project will cost approximately $2500 with 15-25 final photos. Once we have a quick discussion about the project I will send a more detailed project bid. Additional days for the same project are marked down 30%.
Cost sharing = lower rates
Cost sharing is a very common practice when photographing a project. By bringing in just one additional party you can save over 30% on the architectural photography of your project. Discounts increase for each additional party brought into the photo shoot.
Cost Sharing Example: If a photo shoot is estimated at $2,500, and one party is added to the cost share, the total becomes $3,250 ($2,500 + 30%). The new cost per-party is $1,625. You save $875.
Examples of companies that often want access to the photos include: architect, interior designer, landscape architect, construction firm, sub-contractors, materials vendors, furniture vendors, flooring and window vendors, owners/tenants etc.
Bulk projects rate
This is good for getting a consistent look to a portfolio or marketing campaign, for ongoing projects, or when business is booming. Book 8 shoots and get 1 free full shoot or 3 free exterior shoots.

Who own the photos?
All photos are the copyrighted work of the photographer. I register every photo I deliver with the United States Copyright Office, and I retain all rights to the photos. As a client, you are provided with a standard use license to use the photos.
Spin uses a licensing model. When you “buy” a song through Apple Music, you don’t actually own the song, but rather, you own a license to listen to the song on any of your personal devices for your own entertainment. Likewise, you don’t own Microsoft Excel. You own a license to use the software. Photos are the same.
I include a standard usage license with every photo. This usage includes what most architects and design businesses need every day, such as website, social media, architecture and design competition entries, internal uses, including proposals, printed collateral, and wall displays. This is a perpetual license that does not expire. Additional usage may require additional licenses, which can be added up front or anytime in the future.
Can I share the photos with other parties?
Third-party usage is not permitted. Any other parties interested in the final photos should either enter the cost sharing agreement in advance of the shoot to obtain a large discount, or they can license individual photos directly through Spin after the shoot at the full per-photo rate.
